Indoor Riding Arenas Across Minnesota

When the snow flies and Minnesota pastures turn icy, your time in the saddle doesn’t have to end. Across the state, riders are fortunate to have a number of indoor arenas that keep horses moving and riders motivated all winter long. Whether you’re keeping your performance horse in top shape, exercising a rope or barrel horse, or just looking for a safe, warm place to ride and enjoy the winter months, these facilities make winter riding possible for riders of all levels.

Verified Open-Ride Options

The following facilities—Diamond H Acres, KaBoy Arena, and Oasis Equestrian Center—have all been verified by Mid Western Spirit. Each one shared their details directly with us and confirmed their winter open-ride options, giving riders reliable places to stay in the saddle all season long.

Diamond H Acres — 1527 41st St., Edgerton, MN, 56128

Diamond H Acres offers a heated indoor arena with flexible winter riding options, including open ride times and the ability to privately rent the arena for a few hours or a full day. Their open-ride schedule is posted and pinned on their Facebook page (“Diamond H Acres”), and the arena is generally open unless an event is scheduled—so riders are encouraged to keep an eye on updates.

They also offer riding lessons, which appear on the schedule. The arena remains open during lesson times, with plenty of space for everyone, though many riders choose to avoid those windows.

KaBoy Arena — 24016 County Road 12, New Ulm, MN, 56073

KaBoy Arena offers flexible open riding throughout the winter months for $20 per rider, with up to two horses allowed per person. Riders must show a negative Coggins at their first visit and sign a liability waiver before riding.

The indoor arena (100′ x 60′) is ideal for keeping horses conditioned and for slow, controlled barrel work—though not full speed due to size. In the summer, riders can also use the outdoor arena (175′ x 250′), which allows a full barrel pattern.

KaBoy Arena welcomes all disciplines, with most regulars being western riders—trail riders, cattle folks, and WSCA participants. While they no longer keep cattle on-site, the arena remains open to a wide range of western activities.

Winter haul-in times are flexible and arranged by request. Riders simply need to text, email, or message via Facebook to confirm availability.

Oasis Equestrian Center — 13356 347th St., Lindstrom, MN, 55045

Oasis Equestrian Center offers Annual Open Riding Memberships, making it a great winter riding option for all disciplines. Memberships are $300 per person or $500 per household and include year-round access to the 100′ x 250′ indoor arena and 125′ x 250′ outdoor arena whenever no events are scheduled. From November through April, the arena is rarely booked, giving riders consistent indoor access through the winter months.

Members must provide a negative Coggins (within 12 months) and sign a membership form. Riders are welcome to use available equipment—barrels, poles, small jumps, and logs—and are asked to clean up and put away anything they use.

Why Winter Riding Matters

Winter conditioning keeps horses healthy, flexible, and mentally sharp. Even one or two rides a week in a warm indoor arena can make a big difference when spring comes around—whether you’re gearing up for show season, hitting the trails, or just wanting a soft, willing partner under saddle. It’s also a great way to stay connected with your horse community when the snow piles up and the days get short.

Helping You Find Places to Ride, Year-Round

As Mid Western Spirit continues to grow, we’re committed to helping riders find safe, welcoming places to ride year-round. Minnesota winters can be long, but with the right indoor arena, you and your horse can stay active, connected, and ready for whatever adventures spring brings. If your facility offers open riding or haul-in options, we’d love to add you to our growing list—just reach out and we’ll get you included.
